i have been MIA on my blog! has that ever happened before? ever? ha!
we have moved back to Idaho.
oh it has been great!
we miss NYC, to be sure, but it's so fun to be home.
especially now that Dave is with us.
my testimony of the family structure has been strengthened this weekend.
let me back up a bit. the kids and i flew back to idaho on feb 26.
dave and kyler drove the uhaul from new york to idaho that next weekend.
dave was with us for 23 hours, then caught a redeye back to NYC.
oh how we missed him.
i tried to be strong. unpacking. getting the kids into their new schools.
and missing him like crazy.
he came back, i picked him up in SLC on Friday night.
oh how i love him!
it has been so very wonderful to have him back home.
our home just runs smoother. i am calmer. i am happier.
having a father and mother and children is the greatest way a family could be created.
oh it is a great plan!
i am so thankful that Heavenly Father know how we will be happiest.
i am so thankful for the family unit. it works. it does bring such joy.
i am so thankful to be married, so thankful for my husband, and so thankful for my children.
anyway... we have been without computer since coming back to idaho.
so i haven't been able to blog, i have SO much to catch up on, but i really have enjoyed the break.
i am actually using my parent's computer to write this post.
i'm not sure i want the computer back.
i have sure enjoyed the extra time spent with my kids.
but while i am here i'll post some pictures i almost posted back before we left NYC.
it was of the winterstorm Nemo.
so funny that they named a winterstorm.
it was so fun for the kids to wake up to a winter wonderland.
we hadn't seen the likes of it for 2 years.
they had a blast.
that same day Dave's brother, Mitch, was in NYC for work, and we got to spend the afternoon with him, walking in snow-filled Central Park, eating the best pizza at Grimaldi's in Brooklyn, and walking the Brooklyn Bridge. That was one of our favorite things to do, one that we made everyone who came to visit do with us.
So, here is picture overload. But so fun for me to look at today. I miss New York.
I am so thankful we had the opportunity to live there. Oh the lessons we learned.
It was hard. It was wonderful. Our souls were stretched. We cried.
We laughed. And we made some wonderful memories.
And some wonderful friends.
The first couple weeks back in Idaho were a little hard because I missed our friends so much.
But life is wonderful, in that hearts heal, and new experiences also bring joy.
We are thankful to be back, to have Dave back, and look forward to the next 2 months being 'home.'
We're not sure where we will end up, where Dave will find a job, but for now we are thankful for these moments. I have so many pictures to post of idaho, not sure if I will ever get to it, but life is good.
And we are thankful.
And now for the snow in NYC the first part of February...
malia LOVED the snow. unlike anything she had ever played in. her first time to scoop it up! over and over and over again.
after much fun we took the air tram from Roosevelt Island (our home) into Manhattan with Uncle Mitch.
love and miss those views.
the Plaza hotel (on the SE corner of Central Park)...
Central Park was beautiful! We had never seen it with snow. So many people out enjoying the white.
then we took the subway to 34th street to see the Empire State Building...
lexi's feet were wet and she complained until we couldn't take it anymore and had to stop at Macy's to get her some new boots.
we won't ever forget the subways. yucky and stinky, but the fastest way to get around.
lots and lots of memories on those subways.
Grimaldi's!
Do we ever miss that pizza!
nothing in Idaho quite compares.
loving the cream soda...
And then the walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.
So fun to go just as the sun was setting.
We loved seeing the lights of the big city start to twinkle as it gets dark.
picture taken with a flash...
ooops, we covered up Brenner who was in the stroller. take two...
and taken without the flash...
it can't capture the brilliance or magnificence of NYC.
gorgeous crazy city that we love. it captured our hearts. can't wait to go back for a visit.
the Statue of Liberty in the distance to the south...
the Empire State building to the north...
and the snow. my kids were loving the snow....
malia insisted on carrying this gigantic snow chunk.
and was happier than anything with it. she cracks me up.
love this part of the city... all the old capital and city buildings. love the architecture... should have gotten more pictures of the gorgeous buildings up close, with their arches and statues. love them.
i'll never forget the kids and their snow fight. all the way across the bridge. it was so cold not many people were walking it, and they threw snowballs at each other the entire time. had a blast.
and then the subway up to Rockefeller Center to visit the kids' favorite place of all time.
seriously, their favorite place in NYC....
the Nintendo store.
they could spend forever there.
no, my two old does not play nintendo.
just pretending.
love this quality family time. ha!
and that was our fun day.
one of our last in the city.
we sure had fun with Mitch! so glad he could come to visit.
and just a note... we got rid of TV shortly after this.
a few weeks before we left NY we cancelled it and it has been the best decision ever.
